Forward Deployed Engineer

New York or LondonFull-time$190,000 – $235,000 (New York)

About the role

Forward deployed engineers take Pazau from signed contract to 60%+ resolution in a customer's production traffic. You'll sit with the CX, IT and security teams at brands like Solstice Travel and Orbitel. You'll write their first Procedures, build the Actions that connect to their order and booking systems, and tune the agent against thousands of real conversations until the numbers hold up.

The base salary range for this role in New York is $190,000 – $235,000. London offers are benchmarked to the local market. Every offer includes equity.

What you'll do

  • Lead technical deployment for 3–5 enterprise customers at a time, from kickoff through the first 90 days in production
  • Turn a customer's SOPs, macros and tribal knowledge into Procedures, and prove them in simulation against historical conversations
  • Build Actions against customers' internal APIs, and when there isn't one, work with their engineers to design it
  • Answer security reviews alongside our trust team, and walk customer CISOs through Pazau Guard, data residency and Traces
  • Feed what you learn into the product. About a third of Agent 3's Action templates started as FDE code

What you'll bring

  • 4+ years as a software engineer, with some of that time spent working directly with customers or internal stakeholders
  • Strong Python or TypeScript, and comfort reading someone else's API docs at 11 p.m. before a go-live
  • Clear written communication. You'll write for engineers, VPs of Customer Experience and procurement teams in the same week
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, mostly within your region

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, evals or LLM application development
  • Background in contact-center, CRM or helpdesk systems
  • A second European language (London)

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision for you and your dependents, with 100% of premiums covered
  • Equity in Pazau, with a 10-year exercise window after you leave
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for every parent
  • 401(k) with a 4% match
  • $2,000 a year for learning, plus conference travel when you're speaking
  • Four weeks of paid time off, plus a company-wide week off at the end of December

Our interview process

  1. Recruiter call (30 min). We walk through the role, compensation and timeline, and answer your questions first.
  2. Hiring manager conversation (45 min). A conversation about work you're proud of and the problems this team owns.
  3. Customer simulation (90 min). You'll get a sample customer's SOPs and API docs a few days ahead. In the session, you'll scope a deployment with us playing the customer.
  4. Final interviews (3–4 hours, virtual or on-site). Three or four conversations with the people you'd work with every day, including one cross-functional partner.
  5. Founder conversation and references. A 30-minute conversation with Amara or Lukas, then two references you choose.

Most candidates go from first call to offer in three to four weeks. You'll hear back from us within three business days after every stage, and every candidate who reaches final interviews gets written feedback.
